Welcome to SJES

Community Service

Service beyond self is an integral part of daily life at Saint James'. It begins with simple classroom jobs and continues with greater opportunities for service through the School, Church, and community. Saint James' believes that even very young children benefit from the experience of making a difference in someone’s life. SJES students participate in a variety of projects to help others locally and globally:

Thanksgiving Food Drive.
Every year, SJES students collect specific canned goods that are given to the local food banks.
Hats and Mittens for SAFE.
During the holiday season, students decorate the School Christmas tree with women's and children's socks and mittens. The socks and mittens are then donated to SAFE, the domestic violence shelter that services Fauquier County.
arrow Hurricane Sandy Relief Projects.
In 2012, SJES students and families collected bedding, clothing, and toiletry items for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. They also collected pennies for the Episcopal Relief Fund's Hurrican Sandy project.
Soroti Well Project.
Students of SJES joined the efforts of St. James' Episcopal Church to build a well in Soroti, Uganda. The children donated their spare change during the Lenten season and donated $87.81 to the Soroti project. That's a lot of coins!
Haiti Quilts Project.
In spring 2010, Prekindergarten students made quilts which were raffled off at the Mother's Day Tea. The proceeds were sent to the Haiti earthquake survivors.
